Tru Reverie – translated as “authentic reverie” – represents owner Rachel Pearl’s dreams of owning a salon. Pearl has strived to create a scenic location where stylists and clients feel comfortable being themselves, while achieving their dream hairstyle.

Although hair and beauty are Pearl’s passions, it didn’t start out that way. Pearl’s mother convinced her to take cosmetology classes at Chippewa Valley Technical College, but Pearl was initially hesitant.

“When I decided to go to CVTC for beauty school, it was really meant to be a temporary plan until I decided what I wanted to do next,” Pearl said. “I didn’t really want to do my hair – I didn’t even own a hair dryer and didn’t know how to use a curling iron or a braid. But I soon realized that I was pretty good at it, and it was another art form.

After being a stylist for over five years, Pearl’s number one goal is to ensure her clients walk away with 100% confidence in their hair. She customizes each service to each individual, providing clients with an in-depth consultation and maintenance plan.

Pearl specializes in color, hair extensions and low maintenance bridal hair. She feels particularly passionate about educating and training stylists appropriately to ensure a high quality approach to beauty offerings.

“I hope one day to have a team of like-minded stylists around me and grow,” Pearl said. “I want to create a salon that truly educates stylists from the start and gives them a place to grow their careers. Bringing an environment like this to Eau Claire is something that I think would benefit the community as a whole.

Tru Reverie offers PPD-free dyes (PPD is an ingredient that often causes allergic reactions) and pre-selected organics. Pearl recognizes that the beauty industry can create a lot of waste, and they are trying to minimize their waste generation by offering glass bottles for their products and will be offering a product refill station in the future.

In the future, Pearl hopes to expand its mini-lounge into a full lounge, with the aim of providing a comfortable and authentic experience for both its customers and staff.
