The most dreamy Paris Fashion Week Spring / Summer ’22 beauty trends

Fashion month is officially over, with Paris Fashion Week S / S ’22 sending its latest collections to the runway for editors and impatient (albeit a little tired) fans to enjoy. Colorful makeup trends spotted in New York, London and Milan found new life in the hands of French houses, with new iterations of graphic eyeliner and bold lipsticks that were very fading-worthy. As with many hair trends this year (see: the ubiquitous shag of the 70s), stylists took inspiration from the past – in this case, the 90s and the pressed, silky, incredibly straight hair that grazes your hair. ribs. If there was a time to investigate extensions, it might be fall (unless you can manage to grow that much healthy length, in which case, hats off to you).

But while the more understated, minimalist texture swept much of the Parisian runway this season, there was still a lot of drama to be had in the hair department. Colorful wigs, headdresses and vibrant dyes have all found their way into the S / S ’22 runway shows, with brands like Dries Van Noten, Comme des Garçons and Loewe all showcasing their take on hair color theory. It was a great start to Fashion and Beauty Month, which in many ways felt like a reset (if not a complete change to 180) for the industries.

In case you’re feeling daring, let the French will to experiment with beauty inspire your own hair and makeup transformation (big or small) this season.

It’s time to get out the flat iron because that shiny, straight look is officially back now that several French brands have launched hair on their catwalks this season. Don’t forget your heat protector as this style will take a lot of patience and around 400 degrees to flatten your texture.

Whether you’re subscribing to the quintessential French girls lipstick or fancy adding a few layers of glitter to your pout, the focus this season was on the lips. Juicy plums, vibrant oranges and a moody burgundy all popped up, proving maybe it’s time to expand your lipstick wardrobe beyond that trusty nude hue.

The exaggerated liner placed above and below the lids was all the rage this season. A line of black liquid pencil takes on new life when extended to either side of the eye, for a fresh, foolproof look that’s perfect for fall.

Whether you want to put on a low-maintenance wig or call your stylist for an appointment with a new color, the brighter the shade you choose this season, the better. From green to pink through multicolored stripes, the French approach to the wild color is an intrepid “anything goes”.
