Soroptimist International’s “Bras from Bend” campaign is back for the month of April
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A bra – a central Oregon woman. Both make a difference for a woman rescued from human trafficking on the other side of the world.
Your slightly used or new bra offers a woman rescued from sex trafficking the opportunity to earn a living selling used clothes and create a better life for herself and her family. It’s as simple as that.
Please show your support during the month of April and drop off your bras in Soroptimist of Bend Bra Boxes at the following locations. In turn, they are sent to the non-profit organization Free the Girls (freethegirls.org) which ships them to Africa and Latin America. Donations are always welcome to help cover shipping costs. Celebrating over 75 years of service 1943 – 2022
The service never goes out of style. Soroptimist International of Bend (SI Bend) has been providing community support to women and girls in central Oregon since 1943. SI Bend is the oldest and continuous women service organization in Bend, providing educational awards to local students, in addition to supporting Bethlehem Inn, Head Start, Grandma’s House, J Bar J, Dawn’s House and more.
Internationally, SI Bend’s “Bras from Bend” outreach programs help women rescued from human trafficking, particularly the sex slave trade, through the “Free the Girls” campaign. For more information, please contact www.sibend.org.
