Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son makes acting debut in coming-of-age movie

A new generation is taking over.

On Monday, the trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film Licorice Pizza was released and features the late Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son, Cooper Hoffman, 18, making his acting debut.

Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Benny Safdie and Alana Haim of the Haim group are also part of the independent film.

Just like the pops: a new generation is taking over. On Monday, the trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film Licorice Pizza was released and features the late Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son, Cooper Hoffman, making his acting debut.

Licorice Pizza follows a high school student living in the San Fernando Valley, Southern California, who works as a child actor. It takes place in the early 1970s.

The film will be released in a limited edition on November 26, with a national release slated for December 25.

Hoffman plays Gary Valentine who calls himself a “showman” and wants to become a Hollywood actor.

It appears he “grows, runs, and falls in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973,” according to the film’s official synopsis.

We then see them walking at night laughing in a suburb; it seems they are already falling in love.

He is then seen with younger children at an audition.

“So how did you become such a hot actor,” Alana de Haim asks Gary de Hoffman at a dinner party.

Cooper’s character is believed to be modeled after Streisand’s ex, Jon Peters, who went from barber to movie producer.

Bradley’s character then tells the child that he is pronouncing Barbra’s name incorrectly. “Strei-SAND like the ocean,” says a frustrated Cooper.

Hoffman then seems to fall in love with a young girl as Haim gets closer to the character of Sean Penn.

She is then seen in a red dress as she rushes to Hoffman’s house, knocks on the door and says, “Do you really want to see my breasts?”

She proceeds to remove her dress and is seen naked from her back.

He asks to touch his chest and she slaps him. “See you tomorrow,” she said, closing the door behind her with her dress still open.

The trailer is original, and with the newcomers in the lead roles, it’s hard to predict how the film will play out, even with the support of Cooper and Penn.
