Usually when you wash and dry your hair at home, you end up with flyaways.

It’s the little chunks of hair that fly off your head – creating a worn, bushy look.

Now Dyson has created a new Flyaway accessory for his Supersonic hairdryer that solves this problem with a brilliant physics quirk.

Best of all, the Flyaway attachment comes with new Supersonic hairdryers – or can be purchased separately if you already own the machine.

So how does it work?

Dyson says the new attachment uses something called the Coanda Effect.

This normally relates to how fluid will move and stick to the surface of a curved object – and even how a curved object will adhere to an air flow.

But Dyson managed to capture this weird effect to deal with flyaways.

The curved body of the accessory attracts and lifts longer hairs forward.

Meanwhile, a second jet pushes the stubborn wicks through the trees and “out of sight”.

This means that you get better alignment of the hair strands and a supposedly more natural shine.

“Nothing feels as good as this salon blow-dry finish,” said Jen Atkin, Dyson’s Global Style Ambassador.

“The trick to taming boring flyaways is an essential skill for a stylist.

“However, we want our customers to be able to achieve the same high gloss finish at home now.

“Dyson’s latest accessory does just that – it allows people seeking softness to achieve a super sleek finish, on their own, not just from the living room. “

You still get the same selection of accessories in the box as well as the new Flyaway add-on – including a wide-tooth comb, redesigned diffuser and style concentrator.

You can buy the Flyaway accessory separately if you already have a Supersonic - or get it in the box of a new model
