Deborah Nash realizes her vision with the opening of Urban Lounge – The Andalusia Star-News
Deborah Nash came to the United States from Ireland with a vision in mind and successfully achieved it by opening her business called The Urban Lounge.
After opening its doors on November 1, 2021, The Urban Lounge held a grand opening at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Andalusia Region Chamber of Commerce on Friday, March 18.
“I’m grateful to be a small business owner because things haven’t always been easy. In 2007, my son and I left all of our friends and family in Ireland to move to the United States. I am a single mother of two wonderful children: my son, Kevin Parreira, and my daughter, Skye Ramer. It is very difficult not to have a helper or a family to rely on. I worked extremely hard to get where I am today, but I always knew that one day I would have my own place. I wanted to bring a hip, upscale salon to the area,” Nash said.
She chose Andalusia as her activity because she has lived and worked there for several years in the field of beauty. His career began over 20 years ago in Ireland.
“I started out as a beautician, nail technician and massage therapist. After working for a while in a busy salon, I went to makeup artist school and added freelance makeup and event makeup. specials to my resume. After moving to America in 2007, I continued and earned my nail and esthetic teaching instructor license at LBWCC. At the same time, I was also working at Oasis Spa and Salon, where I built a huge following. With my eldest son Kevin at Auburn University and my youngest Skye in sixth grade, I knew it was time for a change. I followed my heart, and c This is how The Urban Lounge was born.
Nash chose the name of her business based on the overall setting and vibe she gives to her customers. “I wanted the lounge to have a laid-back vibe, so I knew I would have the word ‘lounge’ in its name. My location being downtown, I found ‘urban’ as characteristic of the city or town. When you put them together, it becomes The Urban Lounge.
The Urban Lounge is a full service lounge with a big city feel. “We have a calm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We offer hair, hair extensions, all kinds of nail services, waxing, spray tans and eyelash extensions. In the future, we hope to add facials to our menu,” she said.
Nash added that the journey to running her own business has been delightful.
“I really enjoyed the whole design process. I love the fun colors and I have lots of ideas. Seeing how proud my kids are of my accomplishment has definitely made it worth it.
The Urban Lounge is located at 203 South Three Notch Street in Andalusia. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with after-hours appointments also available. For more information, call 334-222-0858.
