L. Catterton go bigger in Hair extensions – and sees plenty of growth opportunities as the category expands.

the consumer private equity giant began in the region last year, taking over extension specialist Beauty Industry Group. Now BIG has reached an agreement to buy Bellami Hairexpanding its portfolio to 14 extension brands and opening a new channel of distribution.

No more WWD

Bellami, which was founded by Nikki Eslami and Julius Salerno in 2012, skips the distributor and sells its 100% Remy hair extensions directly to salons with independent sales people, a digital approach and educational support specialists.

It’s another angle on a category that, according to Derrick Porter, chief executive of BIG, is still in the early days of a dramatic growth curve.

“Currently, only 15-20% of hairstylists offer hair extensions as a service,” Porter told WWD. “And only about 3% of American women use hair extensions as a product.”

It took Porter a while to see the potential for modern consumers in the age-old practice of applying hair extensions.

“Fifteen years ago we were convinced that hair extensions were a fad,” said Porter, who had a third-party logistics company with his wife who worked with the Donna Bella Hair brand. “It was something that was really for the rich and famous movie stars that wasn’t talked about at all.”

But after taking a closer look at Donna Bella’s business, Porter went to the owner and said, “Your business is much better than mine. You have the capacity to evolve.

This led Porter to become a partner, but still not a long-term believer.

“We jumped in with both feet,” he said. “The first four or five years, we were convinced that it was a fad and that it would end any day.”

Once that didn’t fade, he thought maybe it was a trend that would last a bit longer before he finally realized there was more activity there.

“Wow, we’ve actually created a category where stylists are making a huge income from the hair extension service,” he recalls thinking as the business solidified.

“Hair extensions might even be the wrong word for what we’re doing now,” Porter said. “What we’re learning is that nearly 67% of our customers buy hair extensions to solve a problem.”

These include alopecia, thinning hair and other hair issues that can have an emotional impact and give BIG a powerful connection with consumers.

Porter compared hair extensions to hair color, a category that over the past 50 years has grown to be transformative for both the beauty industry and consumers.

“Hair Extensions are ready to air in prime time,” Porter said. “It already starts when you look at the data; we just never came out and talked about it.

Considered an emotional stronghold – and with great potential for growth – the category is also in an ideal place to L. Cattertonwhich takes a thematic approach to the market and invests heavily in the wellness category with investments in Peloton, fitness company Wells Group in China and others.

L Catterton, which is backed by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, bills itself as the world’s largest consumer-focused private equity firm. In addition to BIG, she owns BirkenstockBliss, Ganni, Etro and many others while holding minority stakes in RihannaSavage x Fenty, Rhone, Gentle Monster, The Honest Company and more.

Avik Pramanik, L Catterton’s partner, said BIG is playing in an area that is “completely misunderstood by both beauty category watchers and consumers alike”.

Where the perception might be that it’s the 25-year-old Ariana Grande fan who is looking for hair extensions, the reality is that most consumers are over 35 and more concerned about self-esteem. , said Pramanik.

“It’s never been more important to help this consumer with their hair issues,” he said, adding that the engagement opens up other opportunities. “We want to, over time, help this consumer in other ways that address her hair issues.”

In the meantime, the category is simply doing good business.

“The pool of benefits in hair extension is good for almost everyone who touches it,” Pramanik said.

This ranges from people who sell their hair – donating around 15-20% of their hair in the process – to stylists who specialize in the process. (BIG is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and publishes an environmental, social and governance report detailing priorities and safeguards for its operations.)

Pramanik said there are always new artists coming up with hair extension techniques and creating new brands that can grow into potential acquisitions for BIG, which has back-end teams that handle finances. , demand forecasting, media buying, etc.

“After joining BIG, they have the opportunity to do what they love and not get bogged down,” he said.

Salerno, who leads BIG’s latest brand as CEO, said, “This transaction is an exciting milestone for Bellami as we continue to cultivate ways to reach our consumers through authentic and effective channels. I look forward to working closely with the entire BIG team to bring Bellami to even more clients and accelerate our significant investment in stylist training.

Eslami, the brand’s other founder, will remain as an advisor to BIG, noting, “Their similar goal of elevating the hair solutions category marks a natural evolution of Bellami’s mission over the past decade. With support from BIG, Bellami will expand its reach to meet women’s diverse hair needs, whether it’s thinning, alopecia, dryness, postpartum hair loss, damaged hair or length. . It’s no surprise that hair is emotional and an essential part of many people’s identity. We want it to be a trusted source.

The terms of the contract are not disclosed.

An award-winning hair loss specialist from Devon has been recognized for her skills in creating gorgeous locks for her client, but she says the biggest reward of all is seeing the transformation people’s lives go through after recovering their hair lost. Former primary school teacher turned hairstylist, Keena Davies is the owner of Kurly Sue Hair in Kingsteignton and her many clients include women and men who have thinning hair as well as severe hair loss.

The mum-of-four has helped women who have suffered hair loss for many reasons, including naturally, after undergoing cancer treatment, or due to health issues such as stress and alopecia. Keena thinks they are one of the only people in Devon to come up with a new meshless integration system.

It is described as an innovative method based on the use of the client’s own hair. It takes three hours for the transformation to complete and it is permanent but requires eight weeks of regular maintenance.

Keena explained, “It’s hypoallergenic and fully tailored to each client. The systems are designed to give clients back their hair. A full head of hair is created using breathable, lightweight closures and hair wefts.

“The system is suitable for up to 80% hair loss and is completely non-surgical. New customers are encouraged to bring a photo of the look they would like to achieve, whether it is their old style or a new style.

“These systems are suitable for anyone who wants to create a hairstyle, male, female or transgender, as well as for children, young adults and adults alike.”

The salon also offers hair loss replacement for men which is done using a hairpiece to be attached to the head and create a look that restores their appearance.

Keena started the hair salon nearly three years ago and has seen the lives of hundreds of people change for the better, giving them the chance to look like themselves again.

Devon Live spoke to three of Keena’s customers who bravely spoke about their hair loss and how the Mesh Free Integration System has changed their lives both physically and mentally.

Amanda Bond before and after

Amanda Bond

In 2016, Amanda was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer which had spread to her lymph nodes. She had to undergo surgery and undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Within 11 days of her first episode of chemotherapy, her thick, long hair was “falling out” and she suffered total hair loss. Amanda was assured her hair would grow back, but it may look different. Although her cancer treatment was successful, her hair grew back around the edges of her head, but not the scalp area.

The 50-year-old, from Chudleigh, recalled: “I fooled myself for a few years thinking it would grow back, then you realize it’s not and then everyone is was used to it watching the way I did, and because I didn’t have the time or the money I didn’t do anything about it I also didn’t know that the integration system without mesh existed.

“I tried wigs, but they were so different and so hot. I considered a hair transplant, but I didn’t know anyone who had had one, so I was too scared.

“My daughter saw an ad on Facebook about Keena looking for designs for a new meshless onboarding system at a reduced cost. She persisted, I contacted her so my husband and I went to her meeting. Before I even got home, I was texting her asking her to order the hair.”

As for the treatment just before last Christmas, Amanda said Keena covered the mirror until her new look was complete. The moment she saw the transformation is the one she says she will never forget.

She said: “It was a shock. I had shown her a picture of what I looked like before cancer and she looked like me again which I hadn’t done in six years. I was in tears .

“When I got home, my husband had the champagne ready and said, ‘Oh my God, it’s you.’ Now I have a job with the public.

“People don’t usually want to do it, but they looked at me when I had hair loss, so I was getting out of social circles and withdrawing from a lot of different things. You feel their eyes looking at your head and I’m done. by stuttering and felt like I had to explain why I looked like that. I used to apologize for my appearance.

“Now I don’t even think about my hair. Keena gave me a second chance at life. People say when you beat cancer you’re a survivor, but if you don’t feel like you, you don’t have your life back and you’re starting to wonder what was the point of it all?

“Keena has allowed me to move on with my life and get back to normal. It’s just amazing.”

Janine Dienn

Although Janine was never blessed with thick hair, she made the most of the thin hair she had. However, when she started to clear up, she says it broke her confidence so much that she didn’t even want to leave her house.

Janine, who is in her 60s and lives in Teignmouth, recalls: “I was getting so thin I hardly wanted to go out. It was really bad. I always had thin hair but it got worse over the for the past three years. It got thinner and thinner and it was really depressing, especially for a woman. Most men look good when they’re bald, but it’s horrible for women.

“Over time, I had bought three wigs, but they made me feel uncomfortable and they are very, very hot in the summer. You just don’t want to have them on your head.

“I started searching the internet because someone told me about hair integration and I wanted to find a reasonably local salon. Last summer I went to see Keena for an assessment and she was very welcoming. The salon is private, confidential and comfortable and she was so considerate and friendly.

“When I had the initial treatment it took about three hours and it wasn’t painful at all. I was thrilled when I looked in the mirror and was so surprised. It made a Huge difference and it felt like I was back to my old self, but it was the new me.

“I felt so good, so good that I went to show everyone and sent pictures. My girls didn’t even recognize me at first!

“It’s like normal hair and it’s easy to style. I go back every three months now.

“It gave me confidence and I even had a boyfriend since. I think I would have faded into oblivion if I hadn’t because I rarely go out.

“The initial cost was around £600, then I pay £115 maybe every two or three months to maintain it, but it’s definitely worth it. I’d rather do that than buy new clothes.

“My new hair feels like a part of me now.”

Chrissy Godard
Chrissy Godard

Chrissy Godard

A combination of medication and stress led the 72-year-old to suffer severe hair loss around a year ago. It got so bad she was almost bald.

Chrissy recalls: “I only had strands of hair left; I was practically bald. It happened after a heart attack and I had a lot of stress over the last year and a half. It was also because of the medication I had put.

“I was very unhappy and if I went out I was really upset because I was trying to do something with the little hair I had and I dressed well, but I didn’t want to go out. was so down.

“Keena made me a million dollars and I’m so much more confident now. It made me feel like a woman again.

“What’s great is that people don’t know what I’ve done unless they know me or I tell them because it feels so natural. I’ve tried the wish before and they were absolutely horrible.

“I live in Buckinghamshire and Keena comes to see me because (does she have family here?). Having her hair done has completely changed my life. I’m enjoying going out again and feeling really good.”

Keena Davies – the hairstylist behind the new looks

After working as a primary school teacher, Keena and her family moved to Devon in 2017. A few weeks later she discovered she was pregnant and did not return to teaching.

After a year, she decided she wanted to go back to work but wanted to do something different. Having always had hair extensions herself, she decided to train in this field and become a hair extension technician.

Her business was doing very well, so she and her partner Pete built a living room at home and named the business after her late mother Sue, who sadly passed away.

A year later, Keena decided she wanted to practice something for those who suffer from hair loss. She trained in mesh integration and after a few months doing these systems, she discovered that there was a new system without a mesh.

She said: “People think extensions should be glamorous and long, but they’re not; they’re used for all sorts of reasons and are life-changing too.

“I’ve never heard anyone say they prefer a wig because that system is more comfortable and it’s so light you don’t even know it’s on your head.”

This year, Keena was a finalist in four hair and beauty awards. She came second in the worldwide Social Media Hair and Beauty Awards for Hair Loss Specialist of the Year, reached the top 10 in the same awards for Hair Extensions Specialist of the Year, was finalist in the UK Hair And Beauty Awards and finalist in the British Hair and Beauty Awards.

Keena said: “I want to thank my family, friends and clients for their continued support, for believing in me and choosing me to transform their lives.”

Kurly Sue Hair is open seven days a week. For more details please click here.

When women want a new look, one of the first things they think about is their hair. Many women opt for hair extensions in Boca Raton, Florida to easily transform their look. Bond Street Salon helps them achieve their hair styling goals, especially with professional hair extensions.

Hair extensions are a popular option, and for many reasons,” says Lauren Donald, owner of Bond Street Salon. “Once you’ve tried them, it’s easy to see why a lot of people love them.”

Hair Extensions in Boca Raton are popular all year round. Here are 5 reasons to consider getting them:

  • Hair extensions are perfect for someone who has decided to grow out their hair but doesn’t want to wait for the two-year process.
  • They are perfect for special events including weddings, seniors, senior photos, proms or occasions, enhancing the look for the special day.
  • Hair extensions can provide volume, helping to minimize the impact of hair thinning or loss, including alopecia.
  • Damaged hair, for example by coloring it too much, can rest when someone opts for hair extensions.
  • Hair extensions can help people gain confidence. No matter why they’re having hair issues, extensions can help them feel good about themselves.

“Hair extensions offer a simple way to help achieve beauty goals,” Donald added. “We have a team of hair extension experts happy to help people choose the type that’s right for them.”

Bond Street Salon’s expert team offers two types of hair extensions, which will help people achieve a natural, beautiful and long-lasting look. Both types are taped and tied by hand. One has the extensions hand-tied into the hair, while the other has them strategically glued into the natural hair. Both are a good option for a beautiful natural look, differing in cost and time. They are currently booking hair extension appointments for both styles.

Bond Street also offers haircuts, the latest trends and techniques for highlights, balayage, formal updo styles, formal styles and more. The full-service luxury lounge is located at 25 NE 2nd Ave, Suite 112 in Delray Beach. WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A Wichita Falls woman is on probation after changing her robbery charge to theft.

Antwanette Anderson pleaded lesser charge on Thursday, May 5 and was placed on 4 years probation.

Anderson was arrested two weeks after a November 2019 robbery recorded on CCTV showed her taking hair extensions after she sprayed the store owner.

The video was released and witnesses gave accounts of the incident, which happened at T-Bazaar Beauty Supply on Iowa Park Road.

Anderson walked into the store with a white woman and looks at some hair extensions the owner shows her when she pulls pepper spray from her pocket and sprays it multiple times on her face.

Police said footage showed Anderson then grabbing the hair extensions and running out. The owner runs after her and they start struggling with the extensions until the owner is able to get them back.

Anderson then gets into a car where the white woman is waiting and they leave.

Police obtained the car’s registration number from surveillance video and the owner told them she loaned it to Anderson.

Police said that when they found Anderson, they admitted to trying to steal the extensions to sell and admitted to pepper spraying the owner.

Anderson’s plea for theft also results in him being fined $1,000.

Police have also identified the woman driving the car, who has previously been arrested for theft and two theft convictions, but has not been charged in the case.

Ultra Bond hair extensions review: Everything you need to know about the ‘virtually invisible’ method https://hairextensionsclip.org.uk/ultra-bond-hair-extensions-review-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-virtually-invisible-method/ Sun, 01 May 2022 15:25:50 +0000 https://hairextensionsclip.org.uk/ultra-bond-hair-extensions-review-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-virtually-invisible-method/ 01 May 2022 – 16:25 BST Georgia Brown I got ultra-tied hair extensions from The Extensionist to transform my super-fine damaged locks into long, luxurious tresses – here’s my honest review Royal fans were stunned when the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with shiny, voluminous curls that cascaded over her shoulders earlier last […]]]>

Georgia Brown

Royal fans were stunned when the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with shiny, voluminous curls that cascaded over her shoulders earlier last year. Could it be that the Duchess is just blessed with beautiful, healthy hair? Maybe, “although it’s likely she has hair extensions,” reveals Olia Cutz, founder of The extensionist and specialist in hair extensions.

WATCH: Kate Middleton debuts stunning new hair transformation – and royal fans have questions

I first jumped at the chance to have hair extensions fitted at The Extensionist, desperate to transform my naturally extremely fine, wispy (and admittedly bleached) hair into the princess mane I had always dreamed of. Although I admit, I had my reservations. Will hair extensions make my hair thinner? Will they look bulky? Will people be able to tell that I have hair extensions?

ultra-leaps

Olia immediately responded to my concerns by promising me a weft of shiny, red carpet-ready long hair. Her answer to making hair extensions safe for fine hair is ultra-bonding, a new extension method pioneered by The Extensionist that uses keratin micro-bonding to make extensions nearly invisible.

Curious? Here’s everything you need to know about ultra bond extensions…

What are ultra bond hair extensions?

“Ultra Bonds are our smallest hair extensions,” says Olia. “We use strands of human hair so small that the bond is almost invisible.” The experts at The Extensionist meticulously apply the ultra bonds, strand by strand, using a custom-made micro-extension fusion machine specially designed for the application of the tiny bonds.

Incredibly popular with celebrities due to their “virtually undetectable” bond, ultra-ties are quickly becoming the most popular method of hair extension.

“They can add thickness and length to any hair type, but they’re so subtle that it’s incredibly hard to spot individual strands of keratin bonds. You can hide them perfectly, no one can. will never see, even if you wear your hair up!” Olia revealed.

Like other types of extensions, including tape-in extensions and micro-bond extensions, you can air-dry, straighten, curl and style ultra-bond hair extensions with heat as you like. would do with your own hair – perfect for those who like a low-maintenance ‘do.

How long does it take to apply ultra bond hair extensions?

As the saying goes, “good things come to those who wait”. Depending on the thickness of your extensions, applications can take several hours. I opted for a full head to get both the length and volume I was hoping for, which took about three hours to fit when they were first fitted.

Get-up appointments can take a lot longer, especially if you’re topping up your highlights or refreshing your balayage in between, but believe me, the wait is definitely worth it!

How long do ultra-leaps last?

Unlike other London salons, The Extensionist allows clients to reuse bonds, paving the way for a much more cost effective and sustainable method of hair extension.

My first set of ultra bond extensions lasted me four months before I really started to notice their growth, which is much longer than strip or micro bond extensions, which last around eight weeks. It is recommended that you replace hair with a fresh set of extensions every year, but if you maintain your extensions with minimal heat, regular hair masks, protective sleep styles and the right brush, they can last much longer. .

Do ultra bond hair extensions damage your hair?

It really was my biggest fear of having hair extensions and never being able to go back. I was convinced that I would be left with bald patches and extreme hair loss after my first set was applied, but I was reassured that “minimal damage” should occur if you see a qualified professional to adjust and safely remove your extensions.

My hair extensions give me length and volume

I’m now on my third refit of ultra bond extensions and I’ve never loved them so much. My natural hair is longer than it has ever been and is much less bleach damaged thanks to a year without highlights all over my head. Admittedly, my hair is slightly less voluminous than before, and could definitely use a good trim to restore its healthy bounce once I *finally* decided to part with my 23 inch Russian Remy wefts. , although I don’t. I think there has been a real change since I started my hair extension journey.

If you’re worried about getting extensions, talk to a professional about the best method for your hair.

How to take care of your hair with ultra bond extensions?

“When you have hair extensions, you have to treat your hair with a little more care than you normally would,” says Olia.

Always use an extension brush to help protect bonds and prevent breakage.

“We always tell our customers to braid their hair for bed at night to avoid any tangles. I would also recommend using silk scrunchies and hair ties that are metal free, not rubber bands which damage hair. hair.”

“You can take it a step further and get a nice silk pillow for sleeping to protect hair, we love Blissy silk pillows,” Olia adds.

Do you predict ultra bonds will be the next favorite method of extension for celebrities?

“YES, they already are! Olya said. “Celebrities never want anyone to know they have extensions. As an extension professional, it’s so easy to spot when Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and other celebrities are wearing extensions, but one eye doesn’t knowledgeable would never know.

“There’s a perception that hair extensions are just for length, but they’re also for volume. We love what they can do for someone’s confidence, and give our clients celebrity hair. is what we do best.”

How much do ultra bond hair extensions cost?

“Our priority is always to use the highest quality hair that is soft and shiny, and we source this double-pulled hair from small, rural communities,” says Olia. Prices for a full head of hair extensions start at £380, and this includes the price of the hair plus bespoke fitting and color matching.

As a former entrepreneur looking to get back into the game, JoAnn Gonzales was looking for inspiration ahead of Thursday’s Bakersfield Women in Business Conference. It happened almost immediately.

The Bakersfield businesswoman was sitting in a morning workshop with dozens of other local professionals when she realized she had relied too much on her own resources and failed to take advantage of help available locally. She also realized that other people around her had done the same.

“It made it very transparent that I wasn’t the only one who made these mistakes,” said Gonzales, who left the meeting convinced that despite everything she’s been through, her best is yet to come. “Success comes from failure.”

This message – that it is possible to start over and succeed through personal guidance and self-confidence – was at the heart of the 32nd annual event inside the Mechanics Bank Arena, theater and convention center.

It all started with the event’s motto, “Embrace All That Is You”, and continued with the theme of one of the event’s keynote speakers, three-time Paralympic Snowboard Medalist Amy Purdy, Now author and motivational speaker.

After losing both legs to bacterial meningitis at the age of 19, Purdy said she ultimately had no choice but to accept the person she had become.

“I learned to embrace it. And it opens so many doors,” Purdy said at a press conference near the start of Thursday’s event.

What does this mean for businesswomen? Be patient with yourself, she says: Challenge yourself. Take baby steps if necessary, but most importantly, keep going.

Plus, don’t fall into what she calls “impostor syndrome,” which occurs when even the most capable entrepreneurs fall into the trap of believing they aren’t worthy.

“You have everything you need to be successful,” she said, “in whatever business you’re doing.”

Thursday’s conference, considered a hybrid event because its many presentations were available to remote attendees who participated online, featured a sort of trade show with booths manned by retailers and local nonprofits.

There were also a dozen workshops covering a wide variety of topics, from cultivating resilience and building a brand to one-on-one small business consultations.

The one Gonzales attended starting at 10 a.m. was called “7 Key Steps…Solopreneur,” led by Norma Dunn, director of the Kern Women’s Business Center.

One of the workshop speakers sharing her personal experiences as a local entrepreneur, Leticia Velasquez, said she cried when her business closed. She thought at the time that it was the worst thing that could happen.

But that was not the case. Now the owner of the Mix Salon & Touchup Bar in downtown Bakersfield, she is launching her own line of hair extensions. The failure she thought was the end turned out to have led to a new beginning.

“Now, in retrospect, I think it’s part of God’s purpose for my life,” Velasquez said.

Dunn offered a whole list of tips. Assemble a network of supportive women you can bounce ideas off of, she advised her audience. “Brain dump” your business ideas into a newspaper so you can be receptive to news. Don’t get bogged down by critical comments from family members. Reverse your financial goals.

Another of his suggestions was to avoid trying to perfect your business before launching it. She said it’s often best to listen to customers along the way and adapt to customer feedback.

“It’s never going to be perfect the first time around,” Dunn said.

One of his guests was Deanna Blaise, senior vice president of member business services at Valley Strong Credit Union, based in Bakersfield. She provided several practical tips for aspiring and existing business owners.

Blaise suggested that “solopreneurs” partner with an accountant or someone else who offers the kind of coaching that provides a good grounding in essentials like cash flow and pay statements. She referred the public to free counseling services such as those available through Cal State Bakersfield’s Small Business Development Center and Central Valley SCORE.

Be sure to choose an adviser who isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions, Blaise said, or else you risk being misled. Also, choose someone who is relevant to you.

“You can surround yourself with a village that can help you achieve what you want to achieve,” she said.
