With plenty of airtime on national television, Norwich City players have to give their best.

Lucky for them, there’s a barber in town that covers them.

Based in Pottergate, Luis Neto Hair Design has been cutting the hair of Canary Islands players before games for years.

Former players Simeon Jackson and Elliott Bennett were the first Canarian stars to try the barbers, which were established in 2013.

Irish defender Andrew Omobamidele was even seen having his hair cut inside the store on Wednesday afternoon.

And the likes of Max Aarons, Milot Rashica, Adam Idah and Pierre Lees-Melou are also regular visitors to the site.

Owner Luis Neto said: “A lot of players will come the day before a game or on the morning of a game because they have to look good for TV and interviews.

“One of the players told me they had a lot of interviews to go through the next day.

“The first to come in was Simeon Jackson, but we also had Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Anthony Pikington, Bradley Johnson, Seb Bassong and Gary Hooper. They recommend him to other players at the club.”

Many famous soccer names will go for the skin-fade look in which the hair is cut shorter and shorter as it moves down the neck, he revealed.

But they may not be aware that their hairdresser will be cheering on their opponents this weekend, as Mr Neto is actually a Manchester United fan.

The Red Devils travel to Carrow Road in the Premier League on Saturday.

Mr Neto said: “Personally I don’t talk to them a lot about football. It’s cool to see them on TV after they’ve been there.”

A total of four people work at the business, with barber Miles Pieterson often wearing his Norwich City wool hat as he cuts the client’s hair.

The team pride themselves on being in sync with the modern hairstyling industry, keeping a close eye on the latest trends such as gradients and Afro-Caribbean designs.

Horror hairstyles to avoid

Luis Neto suggested to those who visit barbers to avoid these styles in his professional opinion.

  1. Cut Scratch: The Norwich haircut guru has said this particular cut is most popular among young people, but he wouldn’t have done it himself. This design is a skin crop with a striped look where two or three lines are cut into the hair.
  2. The Peaky Blinders Look: Otherwise known as the undercut, the style was inspired by the BBC crime drama television series. The side hairs are shaved down to the skin, while the top is trimmed and the side swept.

  3. The Mule: This one has caused some disagreement among the Pottergate barbers with Mr. Neto saying he’s a fan of the style, but his colleague Tyler Readshaw thinks otherwise. The likes of Netflix star Joe Exotic, known as Tiger King, rocked the look.
