Summer is almost over and school will be back in a few weeks. Here are some back-to-school events and deals happening in the area.
Armed Services YMCA Killeen is hosting Back-to-School Healthy Kids Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. This is a free community event. The community is invited to the Wellness Center for a day of family fun, vendors, games, rides, activities, free food and gifts while supplies last.
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors will host the Back to School Drive-Through Backpack Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will receive school supplies, free gifts and information on available services while supplies last.
Autism Behavior Support at 4003 W. Stan Schlueter Loop is hosting a Back to School Contest on August 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be bouncy houses, snacks, face paint and school supplies available at the event.
Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church has partnered with the Killeen NAACP Chapter to host the Back to School Blast on August 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a rally, fashion show, vendors and more. Free backpacks are available while supplies last. Students must be enrolled in CCISD or KISD schools to participate.
Dominion Mandate Global is hosting a back-to-school show on August 7 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at 403 N. College Street with free school supplies, backpacks, games and activities, free food and music. will be available.
Yahweh Beauty School is hosting a $1 back-to-school haircut event August 10-12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Shampoo and blow dry or flat iron services are $5. No drawing or braiding is part of the agreement. Back-to-school offer applies to walk-in customers only. There will be a draw for door prizes and free goody bags. Inspired Designs hair salon and hair salon invites residents to attend the 18th annual community event which will be a Back 2 School campaign to benefit school-aged children at local homeless shelters. The event will take place on August 13 at 10 a.m. at participating beauty and hair salons. Services will include haircuts, relaxers, shampoos, styles and barber cuts.
The Back To School Pop Up Shop organized by EventsWith Amey will take place at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center on August 20 from noon to 4 p.m.
The goal of the event is to give every student the necessary starter supplies, backpacks, liberated food, and a day of fun for a great school year. Inspired Designs Hair Salon and Hair Salon is collecting school supplies for the “Back 2 School Drive” through August 6, 4001 E. Stan Schlueter Loop. Loose Screwz Car Club is hosting a Back to School Bash & Supply Give Away on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Carl Levin Park, 400 Millers Crossing. There will be slides, food and fun for the whole family.
Gan Gan’s Chicken Shack will host the Back to School Festival on August 14 from 2-6 p.m. Free snow cones and cotton candy will be available along with vendors and games. Call 469-671-1613 for more information.
The Chick-fil-A at Copperas Cove is having a back-to-school party on Saturdays from 5-8 p.m. The event is free to the public and will include a cheer rally featuring Bulldawg athletes, the Copperettes and more. A backpack gift will be available while supplies last.
Grace United Methodist Church will host its annual Back to School Buzz on August 13 from 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. The church plans to donate 600 bags of school supplies in 2022. The event will provide school supplies only to ISD Copperas Cove students.
